WMU, Albion receive grants for Native American history

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Native American Heritage Fund Board announced Wednesday that three West Michigan school systems will receive funds to provide Native American history.

The organization awarded nearly half a million dollars to 11 communities across the state, including Western Michigan University, Albion College and Portland Public Schools.

“We partner with communities through every step of the process—from education and cultural guidance to implementation—so that changes are not only made, but made meaningfully,”  NAHF Chairperson Dorie Ross said in a statement. “These grants help restore accurate representation, uplift Indigenous voices, and build stronger bridges between Tribes and local communities.”…
