AUDIO: Kalamazoo woman to compete for Miss Wheelchair USA

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – July is Disability Pride Month and Saturday is the anniversary date for the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Kalamazoo has a special reason to mark the occasion this year because a Kalamazoo woman has been named Miss Wheelchair Michigan. Rynita McGuire has a congenital condition that limits the range of motion in her arms and legs.

She endured a rough childhood, homelessness, domestic violence and foster care but she overcame that. She now has a master’s degree, teaches art at KVCC, and is a professional D.J. as well as an advocate for those with disabilities…
