Charge filed against Comstock Twp fire official after crash that injured girl

COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A felony charge has been filed against the Comstock Township fire department deputy chief after he was arrested following a crash that injured a child.

The charge of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury was filed against 63-year-old Michael David Dyer Wednesday and a warrant was requested Friday, according to court records.

The crash happened just after midnight on June 22 in the area of E H Avenue and Berry Street. Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the scene where 11-year-old La’shae Parker had been hit by a gray 2020 Ford F450 and was taken to the hospital.
