“The Landing Place” to become Michigan’s largest family homeless shelter

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A new transitional family shelter called The Landing Place is set to open in Kalamazoo County by December 2025, aiming to provide safe housing and supportive services for families experiencing homelessness.

The facility, an 80-room former hotel, is being renovated to become the largest family shelter in Michigan. County leaders say the goal is to create a welcoming, stabilizing space for families in crisis.
