Local church hosts annual ‘Love Week’ offering free back-to-school supplies

VICKSBURG, Mich. — This week, families across West Michigan have the opportunity to get free groceries and back-to-school supplies ahead of the start of the school year.

This is the tenth year that Valley Family Church has hosted “Love Week,” where families can get groceries, backpacks with school supplies, diapers, formula, and stuffed animals –all for free.

The event began Tuesday at the Vicksburg Farmers Market Pavilion and will continue at other locations through Thursday.

“I think there’s always more need than we realize,” Eric Jones, who is a pastor at Valley Family Church, said. “Often we kind of go about our everyday life and aren’t aware that there’s people, hey, they just need a hand up. And tonight that’s our goal, just to help people out. If they need some food, they need a school backpack to get back to school, we have those available.”…
