KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — At the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, a morning kids’ tour — called “Wonder Walk” — invites families to explore the galleries and get hands-on with fine art.
“It’s really a program that we have opened up for families and young children to come out and enjoy looking at art in the galleries,” Zachary Kusz, marketing and communications officer for the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, said. “To do different activities and games that are kind of centered around some of the exhibitions that we have at the moment.”

On Friday, children were invited to participate in a variety of activities that aligned with this month’s theme: summer.
“There’s a scavenger hunt where we track down different pieces of art in the gallery that represent summer,” Kusz said. “So, a lot of the garden artwork. A lot of the abstracts that have warm color tones.”
Wonder Walks — though a new program with KIA — will continue throughout the year with different seasonal topics, including an upcoming Chinese ink painting theme and autumn theme later in the fall.
