Pride festival featured ‘gayest truck in Allegan’ contest, drag shows and more

ALLEGAN, Mich. — The second and final day of Allegan Out Loud filled Riverfront Plaza with music, vendors, drag queens and food on Saturday.

For it’s fourth year, Allegan Speak Up! organized Allegan Out Loud, a two-day pride event meant to celebration community and inclusion, according to event organizers.

Day one featured a Mx. Allegan Pride Pageant where contestants were able to showcase their pride and a talent of their choosing. The pageant was judged by Jasmine Masters, a competitor on the seventh season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and the fourth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.

Saturday started at 1 p.m. with live music from DJ Club Kid followed by various events such as a drag queen story time, award for the “gayest truck in Allegan,” a Pride in Freedom Scholarship award, water balloons and a Beauty Beyond Drag meet-and-greet.

The truck competition, according to the event website, said participants were to decorate their truck with “rainbow regalia” and bring it to the festival for the attendees to vote on…
