Man found not guilty of charges in 2024 Hartford shooting

HARTFORD, Mich. (WOOD) — A man who was charged last year after a shooting involving two trucks in a Van Buren County neighborhood has been found not guilty by a jury, court records show.

A jury found Justin Arellano, 22, not guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon and a weapons charge Thursday.

The charges stemmed from Aug. 17, 2024 when multiple 911 calls complained of people in two trucks shooting at each other. Home security camera video shows a yellow truck speeding by a house before shots ring out for several seconds. Despite the multiple shots, police say no one was hurt.

Arellano, then 21, was charged along with 18-year-old Elias Ramirez. At the time, Arellano and his parents told News 8 it was a case of self-defense. Ramirez pleaded guilty to a charge for firing from a vehicle in November and a weapons charge was dismissed…
