KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo Mall transformed into a canine wonderland Saturday for the city’s Dogs in the Zoo event.
Dogs of all shapes and sizes accompanied their owners to the event, which celebrated its third year.

The event also benefited the businesses downtown, who saw much more foot traffic than usual.
“I think all events are important for small businesses. People come downtown, maybe they’ve never really been downtown. In this case, they’re able to enjoy all of downtown. And so for a small business, it means people may be shopping for the first time,” said Joe Gamrat, co-event coordinator of Dogs in the Zoo.
