Michigan ice storm relief bill stalls in Senate, leaving communities in need

LANSING, Mich. (WPBBN/WGTU)— A proposed $100 million relief bill intended to aid 12 Northern Michigan counties affected by the March ice storm has unexpectedly stalled in the Michigan Senate, leaving communities in need of critical funds for recovery efforts.

Dana Bensinger, Executive Director of the Otsego Community Foundation, expressed the challenges faced by the foundation. “It’s a heavy lift right now,” she said. “We’re the community foundation and when your community is going through things, we’re the platform to support the community.”
