Mattawan is potentially on the verge of gaining a 3000 square-foot Casey’s Travel Plaza in the center of Mattawan, and the residents of the area are not happy about it.
The Village of Mattawan recently announced that it would be holding a special meeting on August 25 at 7 PM at the village office at 24221 Front Ave. in Mattawan to discuss the matter at hand:

The Variance request submitted by Edward Kucinich and Florence Kucinich for property located at 23440 E. McGillen Avenue, Mattawan property ID # 80-46-700-057-20 requesting a variance from the Village of Mattawan Zoning Ordinance Article 10 Section 10.30 (M) Automotive Fueling Stations including those combined with convenience stores.
