Tornadoes, terrorism pose ‘big problem’ for 2 schools if proposed battery facility is hit

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI — When Comstock Public Schools broke ground on its STEM Academy in September 2024, district officials envisioned it surrounded by forest and fields.

Now, a company called Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) wants to build a 400-megawatt battery energy storage facility east of the new school still under construction at 7600 E. Main St.
