Accomplice pleads guilty in $7K Bad Axe lottery scheme

A Kalamazoo man has pleaded guilty in Huron County 52nd Circuit Court for his role in a scheme in which he and another man used stolen credit numbers to buy more than $7,000 in lottery tickets from a Bad Axe party store, according to police.

Hason Ali Smith, 26, pleaded guilty to a charge of false pretenses — $1,000 to $20,000 on Aug. 25. The charge carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
