LAWRENCE – A weapon was found Thursday, August 28, in a vehicle during a routine sweep of the parking lot at the Van Buren Tech, Lawrence, according to Van Buren Intermediate School District Superintendent David Manson.
In a release to Van Buren Tech families and students, Superintendent Manson said, “We want to inform you about a situation that occurred at VB Tech this morning. Out of an abundance of caution, a temporary hold of students was put in place after a weapon was discovered in a vehicle during a routine sweep of the parking lot.
Superintendent Manson said, “Our team, in partnership with VBISD Emergency Management and local law enforcement, responded swiftly and effectively. Students remained safe in their classrooms while the situation was addressed. The matter was resolved without incident, and at no point were our students or staff in danger. Once the area was secured, the hold was lifted and the school day returned to normal.”…
