Suspect causes temporary lockdown for Schoolcraft Community Schools, now in custody

SCHOOLCRAFT, Mich. — Schoolcraft Community Schools (SCS) were in a precautionary lockdown Thursday morning due to an at large person of interest.

At 8:37 a.m., Kalamazoo County Dispatch contacted Schoolcraft Elementary School and advised both buildings to enter a lockdown due to a dangerous suspect in an area near the school campus.

Law enforcement consulted the school district shortly after, and the administration determined the suspect was not on the campus and did not pose an immediate threat to enter campus, SCS superintendent Nate Ledlow said in a release.

The school district then entered into Secure Mode, where all exterior doors remain locked, and no one is allowed to enter or exit the buildings…
