KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A special kind of block party took place in Kalamazoo on Saturday.
The party, called “A Recipe for Abundance,” allowed people a chance to meet their neighbors and collaborate in Kalamazoo’s Vine neighborhood.

“It’s a change for people to come forward with their own ideas and to really give the neighborhood an infusion of that kind of verve,” said Steve Walsh, and organizer.
The gathering featured food, live music, an art installation, and a clothing swap, all free to the public.
