Hot dog window walk-up announces new location after August break-in, burglary

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — After an August break-in a hot dog restaurant announced on Wednesday they’re opening up a new spot.

Copper’s Dog House, a hot dog walk-up with window service, had their shop broken into on Aug. 5, 2025 leaving some of their equipment and their service window damaged. After learning it could take up to 12 weeks for repairs, co-owners Joey and Jenna Gamrat announced Wednesday they are opening up a new location a few doors down from their original South Kalamazoo Mall spot.

“We were heartbroken when we realized the window repairs would take us out for nearly the entire season,” said Joey Gamrat. “But what felt like a setback quickly became an opportunity. This new space allows us to expand our menu, provide indoor and outdoor seating, and most importantly, serve Kalamazoo year-round.”…
