SPCA of Southwest Michigan hosts Fur Ball Gala, raising funds for shelter costs

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A “purr-fectly posh evening of glamour, mischief and whiskers” took place in Kalamazoo Thursday night.

Pet owners and their furry friends were invited to attend the SPCA of Southwest Michigan’s “Fur Ball Gala” at Haymarket Plaza-Desenberg, according to the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

From 5:30-8:30 p.m., guests who attend the “Alley Cat Edition” of the annual celebration enjoyed a cuddle lounge, photo booth, raffle, appetizers, as well as a DJ.

Additionally, News Channel 3’s own Will Haenni emceed the event.

Funds raised during Thursday night’s event will go towards helping the shelter with rising costs and more.

“Ticket sales and sponsorships go to helping animals’ medical care, helping them be rehomed and adopted out,” Katie Timber, executive director of the SPCA of Southwest Michigan, said. “We’re also acknowledging people who have provided the service for our organization and our community.”…
