Bronson Healthcare warns patients it could drop UnitedHealthcare in 2026

Bronson Healthcare Group could drop out of health insurer UnitedHealthcare’s network if the two are unable to reach an agreement on a new contract.

The Kalamazoo-based health system today began notifying patients about the ongoing negotiations with UnitedHealthcare, a national commercial carrier and the largest health insurer in the U.S. by membership.

If the negotiations to replace the three-year contract fail to lead to a new deal, Bronson’s hospitals, physician offices, and outpatient care centers would become out of network for UnitedHealthcare employer-sponsored, commercial insurance plans beginning Jan. 1, 2026. That would result in patients potentially paying significantly more out of pocket for their care…
