Man who told minor to set playground on fire pleads guilty

OTSEGO, Mich. (WOOD) — A man who told a minor to set a playground on fire in Otsego pleaded guilty to arson on Monday, according to Allegan County Circuit Court.

Michael Kilbourn, 37, was charged with the delinquency of a minor and third-degree arson in late September.

Otsego police investigating park playground fire

The charges date back to a large fire that damaged part of North Side Park on River Street and Watson Road in Otsego shortly after midnight on Sept. 2.

At the time of the fire, authorities said they believed it had been set on purpose based on the size of the fire and how quickly the flames spread.
