LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A new video shared to 6 News by a viewer shows the last moments of a mid-sized jet falling out of the sky above Bath Township Thursday night. Moments after the video was recorded, the jet crashed into a state-owned wooded area, killing all three on board.
At the time of the crash, just after 5 p.m., FAA data shows a Hawker 800 XP left Battle Creek heading south before turning and flying north, east of Lansing, before crashing near the intersection of Clark and Peacock Road on state land just north of Rose Lake.
The woman who recorded the jet plummeting from the sky lives at the Somerset Park Apartments, two miles from the crash scene. “I had my dog out for a walk and the plane was flying all over the place, losing control,” Carrie Sieffert told 6 News. “I almost thought it was a glider [because] it was out of control going back and forth. I saw it flying around and then when I tried to take a video is when you can see it going down. So sad!”
The FAA and NTSB are investigating the crash and have not commented on what the cause may have been. Investigations into plane crashes can take months to complete…
