Police: Suspect arrested for 2023 Kalamazoo shooting

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Prosecutors filed charges in connection with the 2023 shooting death of a 17-year-old.

KDPS chief urges no retaliation after 17-year-old killed

Raymond C. Moore, Jr., 23, was taken into police custody on Oct. 17 on charges of open murder and felony firearm possession, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

In June 2023, Markii Jerrell Robinson Jr. was shot and killed in an apparent drive-by shooting in an alley in the area of Stockbridge Avenue near James Street.

Police later found a burned out car that they suspect had been used in the shooting. That August, a 15-year-old was arrested and sent to the juvenile court system to face third-degree arson charges related to the car fire, police said in a statement.
