BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Battle Creek police say two homemade explosives were tossed from a vehicle Friday night, resulting in 911 calls of an explosion in a neighborhood.
“From home surveillance systems, we were able to see the blast. It was a small blast,” Battle Creek Police Department Detective Sgt. Chris Rabbitt said.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. Friday on Ridge Street near Spring Street. Officers determined that the two homemade explosives were tossed from a vehicle. Police say the first was thrown under an RV parked on the street, while another was found in the middle of the road. The improvised explosive device was described as a small pipe bomb. It failed to detonate. The IED was removed by the Battle Creek Bomb Squad and is being reviewed in the investigation.
