Man arrested for stealing electricity, causing $5,700 in damage to utility equipment

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A 45-year-old Grand Junction man is facing numerous felony charges following an investigation into stolen electricity in Columbia Township.

The man was arrested Tuesday and lodged at the Van Buren County Jail for Malicious Destruction of Utility Property and Theft of Public Utilities.

The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said in a release Wednesday morning that the 45-year-old has been stealing electricity since January 2024.
