Kalamazoo food pantry prepares for increased need due to pause on SNAP benefits

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) put a temporary pause on issuance of November Supplemental Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits Oct. 23 due to the government shutdown.

Local food pantry Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes (KLF) prepared for the increase in need by expanding their purchased food inventory and adding additional pantry appointments and shifts for the next several weeks.
