Man accused of hitting deputy, leading officers on a multicounty chase

PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was arrested Thursday after hitting a sheriff’s deputy with a car and fleeing the scene, authorities say.

Officers from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office arrived at a welfare check for an unconscious man in the parking lot of a Pennfield Township restaurant around 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Deputies discovered that there was a felony warrant out for the 47-year-old man’s arrest, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Deputies say the man resisted arrest and hit a deputy with his car while fleeing the scene. Later, they attempted a traffic stop but the man fled again and led deputies “on a pursuit that continued into Eaton County,” according to the release…
