On October 29, 2025, the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team Crime Reduction Team patrolled near Alamo Avenue and Douglas Avenue in Kalamazoo. The patrol focused on illegal weapons activity. Investigators saw two masked males near Cobb Avenue and Nola Street. One appeared to have a weapon. Officers tried to make contact.
A 23-year-old Kalamazoo man ran from police but was caught after a short chase. He had a firearm that was reported stolen from Portage, Michigan, in early 2023.
