Portage Residents Asked to Support Local Food Pantry Through Stuff-the-Bus Drive Amid SNAP Suspension

The City of Portage, Michigan, in partnership with Kalamazoo Metro, has started a ‘Stuff-the-Bus’ food drive to support the local food pantry, Twelve Baskets. The drive is organized in response to the expected suspension of SNAP benefits on Saturday, November 1, 2025, due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This change may affect many Portage families.

Residents are asked to donate non-perishable food and personal hygiene items at Portage City Hall. The building will have extended hours on Saturday, November 1, from 8 AM to 4 PM, to allow for weekend donations. Regular drop-off hours will continue through Thursday, November 6.
