On the morning of November 1, 2025, the Battle Creek Fire Department responded to a fire at a duplex on West Helen M Montgomery Avenue. The fire started shortly before 8 a.m. Rescue 2 arrived first and found a fire on the first floor. Other units, including Engine 5, Truck 1, Engine 3, Engine 4, and Rescue 6, helped put out the fire and check the building.
One resident left the home before firefighters arrived. LifeCare Ambulance staff checked the resident and found no injuries. Battle Creek police also assisted.
