Man charged with assault with intent to murder, other felonies after hours-long standoff

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A 40-year-old man is facing several charges including assault with intent to murder after an hours-long standoff Friday.

While serving a warrant Friday around 6:11 p.m. to 40-year-old Shane Michael Launius at 2980 Business One Dr. for violating the conditions of his bond, two bond agents were shot at through the windows of a business, according to Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputies.

Launius entered into an hours-long stand-off with law enforcement until they were able to successfully negotiate him into surrendering without further incident.
