Plainwell nonprofit hosts drive-thru style food drive amid SNAP pause

PLAINWELL, Mich. — Local organizations are stepping up while many families face food insecurity as a result of SNAP benefits being cut.

Christian Neighbors held a drive-thru food drive Wednesday afternoon called “Operation Stock our Shelves” at the nonprofit’s Plainwell location.

The community brought protein and non-perishable food items, which all went straight to the organization’s food pantry.

“The people who are out greeting people with the car, they’re like, ‘this is the food drive, I’m here to help,'” Jennifer Collins, executive director of Christian Neighbors, said. “And so, it’s community people who are helping their friends, families, and neighbors who are in need right now. And it’s very heartwarming.”…
