Drivers contend with slick roads across West Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Some crashes have been reported across West Michigan Monday morning as drivers contend with slick roads.

The Kent County Road Commission says though overnight snow totals were minimal, they were enough to cause refreeze on bridge decks and shaded areas. Crews were out overnight treating roads; they will continue to work throughout the day, the road commission said.

Lake-effect snow to produce several inches Monday

In Battle Creek, the westbound I-94 ramp was closed at the Helmer Road exit due to a crash, dispatchers said around 8:05 a.m.

In Ionia County, a crash temporarily blocked the left lane of eastbound I-96 before Nash Highway. It was back open by 6:50 a.m., according to the Michigan Department of Transportation…
