An Indiana wood truss manufacturer is expanding aggressively in West Michigan with a new $3 million production plant and the recent acquisition of a third-generation, family-owned lumber company.
ProTec Panel & Truss purchased a vacant building earlier this year to expand its manufacturing operations and create 50 jobs near Fort Custer Industrial Park in Battle Creek. The approximately 35,000-square-foot manufacturing facility is at 370 Watkins Road.
ProTec Panel & Truss President Shane Soule said the property, which ProTec acquired for $820,000 in May, is ideal because it contains 23 acres with needed outdoor storage space and came with a building with good bones, he said.
