Human remains found near Milham Park in Kalamazoo identified

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Skeletal remains that were found near Milham Park in Kalamazoo on Nov. 12 have been identified as belonging to 62-year-old Bryan Curtis Hughes, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) confirmed with News Channel 3 Tuesday.

Public safety officers are still unsure of his cause of death, but said they believe he was unhoused when he died.

Officers were first called to a wooded area off of Lovers Lane near Milham Park Golf Club around 5 p.m. that day after someone had reported they found possible human remains, KDPS said.

Because of fading daylight and the need to properly preserve the area, authorities secured the scene overnight until detectives, crime lab personnel, and the medical examiner’s office could conduct a detailed search the following morning…
