KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Two men will spend the rest of their lives in prison following the 2024 “broad daylight” killing of another man in Kalamazoo.
Following a dual-jury trial, Deyonte Armstrong and Don’quay White were each convicted of first-degree premeditated murder, two counts of felony firearm and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety announced in a release Tuesday.

Armstrong and White’s trials ended with closing arguments on Dec. 10. Armstrong was found guilty the same day, while White’s jury found him guilty the next day.
Armstrong and White shot 30-year-old Charles Lee Weir around 6 p.m. on July 24 at the Fox Ridge Apartments on the city’s northwest side. Officers arrived at the complex to find Weir with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died the next day, the KDPS told News 8 in 2024.
Armstrong was charged with open murder in October 2024 after being apprehended by U.S. Marshals near Chicago.
