On Saturday at 3:06 a.m. EST the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory valid from 4 p.m. EST until Sunday 11 a.m. EST for Mason, Lake, Oceana, Muskegon, Ottawa, Allegan, Van Buren and Kalamazoo counties.
“Total snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches,” can be anticipated according to the weather service. “While snowfall amounts will not be significant, 1 to 3 inches in most areas, the snow when combined with very cold temperatures will result in very slippery travel. Temperatures will drop into the teens and single digits making salt less effect. This evening, tonight and Sunday morning be prepared to encounter slick conditions. You will need to slow down and allow for extra travel time.”
“Roads will likely become slick and hazardous. Visibility and road conditions may change rapidly over short distances in lake effect snow,” adds the weather service. “Slow down and use caution while traveling.”
