About 4,500 to be without power during planned outage Friday in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — About 4,500 Kalamazoo County residents will be without power for a couple hours early Friday morning while Consumers Energy works on some equipment upgrades.

The planned outage will affect those living around West Main Street near the US-131 interchange from 12:30 a.m. to about 2:30 a.m., the energy company said.

The work is supporting Novi-based ITC Michigan, the country’s largest independent electricity transmission company, as they make upgrades to substation equipment in Kalamazoo meant to improve electric service for customers in the area, Consumers Energy said.
