FireKeepers gives toys and food to 4,000 Battle Creek families

FireKeepers Casino Hotel turned Kellogg Arena into a holiday haven Dec. 11, handing out more than 4,000 toys, 300 turkeys and fresh food boxes to Battle Creek families in need.

The annual Toy and Food Distribution featured toys donated by FireKeepers employees, guests and community supporters, while fresh food boxes from the South Michigan Food Bank and turkeys purchased by FireKeepers were distributed to families, according to a community announcement.

The initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden many families face, especially during the holidays.

The event is guided by the Seven Grandfather Teachings of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi.
