Amtrak ordered to fix bumpy Kalamazoo railroad crossing

KALAMAZOO, MI — The fresh pavement at Stadium Drive and Howard Street conceals a bump at the railroad tracks that’s taken drivers by surprise since it reopened in 2024.

Kalamazoo successfully pushed Amtrak to address the issue, said city spokesperson Mike Smith.

“The City of Kalamazoo wanted to make sure that the work was done entirely at Amtrak cost, since they created the problem,” Smith said.
