New firefighting gear will reduce Kalamazoo first responders’ cancer risk

KALAMAZOO, MI — Funding for new fire gear in the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety will reduce firefighters’ risk of cancer.

The city received $500,000 for a second set of fire turnout gear on Friday, Dec. 19.
