Engineers honored for water project fueling Ford’s battery park

Engineers and skilled trades workers have been recognized for their work on the Verona Road Watermain Extension project in Emmett Township.

The Southwest Michigan Branch of the American Public Works Association named the project among the 2025 Public Works Project of the Year regional award recipients, according to a community announcement.

The project is part of a regional effort to support Ford’s BlueOval Battery Park Michigan at the Marshall Area Jobs, Opportunity and Recreation Campus. MAEDA, Emmett Charter Township, Fleis & VandenBrink, Granger Construction Co. and Hoffman Bros. Inc. were all involved in the project.
