Kalamazoo to launch housing expansion and tax incentive projects in 2026, city says

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — In an effort to address housing for people overcoming substance abuse issues, the Kalamazoo City Commission recently approved two initiatives to begin development in 2026.

Commissioners approved a 50-year, 4% Payment In Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) for the Kalamazoo Recovery Housing (KalRecovery) 1 Limited Dividend Housing Association during their Dec. 15 meeting.

Officials said KalRecovery will be a 48-unit, $22.3 million drug recovery housing development to be located on a portion of 333 E. Alcott Street in the Edison neighborhood.
