KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Faced with financial challenges and the aftermath of a shooting, a Kalamazoo distillery is closing its tasting room.
Green Door Distilling’s Tasting Room at 429 North St. near Walbridge Street is set to close after Jan. 10, it announced in a social media post. The distillery said it will continue the production and distribution of its products, which includes vodka, blueberry liqueur, cider cask bourbon and botanical gin.
“It is with a mix of sadness and frustration that we announce the closure of Green Door Distilling’s Tasting Room,” the social media post said. “The reality of small business is that it requires more than ‘likes’ on social media; it requires consistent, local support. Unfortunately, that support hasn’t been enough to offset the rising costs and the legacy of debt we’ve been carrying.”

The post goes on to say that while the team is disappointed, “we leave knowing we gave it everything we had.”…
