Public comment open for Kalamazoo company’s air permit

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy has opened a public comment period for a proposed air permit requested by Graphic Packaging International.

The proposal is meant to modernize the facility. It will decommission the “K3 production line” and shift more production to the “newer, more efficient K2 equipment,” per EGLE. Two boilers would also be shut down as part of the upgrades.
