Amid mechanic shortage, local automotive program focuses on training the next generation

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — As the nation faces an ongoing shortage of mechanics, a number of training programs are focusing on preparing the next generation to step in.

Professor of Automotive Technology at Southwestern Michigan College (SMC), Kyle Schrock, describes the current mechanic market as “many years in the making.”
