Jackknifed semi truck causing closures of east I-196 for ‘an extended time’ until cleared

ZEELAND, Mich. — A crash involving a jackknifed semi truck is closing sections of east I-196 on Monday morning.

As of 8:16 a.m., Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) officials report all lanes of east I-196 at Byron Road (exit 55) as closed due to a crash involving a jackknifed semitruck.

The closure will be ongoing “for an extended time” while crews clear the scene, Ottawa County dispatch officials said.
