At 5:07 a.m. EST on Saturday, the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory valid from 7 p.m. EST until Monday 1 a.m. EST for Cass, St. Joseph and Berrien counties.
“Total snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches. The greatest totals are most likely near Lake Michigan and along and south of a line extending from Colon, MI into Elkhart, South Bend, and Fish Lake, IN,” can be anticipated according to the weather service. “System snow is expected tonight into Sunday, then lake effect snow follows from Sunday night into Monday morning. Depending on how the lake effect evolves behind the system, it’s possible we will need to extend the advisory into Monday for Northern La Porte and Western St. Joseph…..
