Approximately 30 blind and visually impaired campers were left stranded for hours after Amtrak suddenly canceled their train ride home.

Attendees at this year’s Winter Camp for the Blind, many of which were reportedly in their 70s and 80s, were planning to take the train home on Sunday, Feb. 8 in Battle Creek, Mich., when the railroad company unexpectedly canceled their scheduled ride, WXYZ Detroit and News Channel 3 report.

The train was originally scheduled to depart just before 11 a.m. on Sunday, however it was delayed and then canceled as a result of mechanical issues…
