Men killed by vehicle swerving to avoid head-on crash in St. Joseph County

WHITE PIGEON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two men walking alongside the road were hit and killed by a vehicle that was trying to avoid a head-on crash early Thursday morning in White Pigeon Township, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office.

It happened on Eagley Road near Lake Road just before 5:20 a.m., deputies said.

A 57-year-old man in a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer was going south on Eagley Road when he swerved west to avoid a northbound vehicle that had crossed the center line, according to the sheriff’s office.

The other vehicle was reportedly trying to go around two pickup trucks parked on the east side of Eagley Road, and in attempt to avoid this vehicle, the Chevrolet maneuvered west — hitting and killing the two men walking near the road…
