Beacon Health invests $3.5M to revive Kalamazoo ER

Beacon Health System is betting emergency room renovations can reverse years of declining patient volumes at its newly acquired Kalamazoo hospital and help build trust in the community for its commitment to the struggling facility.

The $3.5 million emergency room project is the first test of Beacon Health System’s promise to invest $70 million and revitalize a hospital that has lost patients for years. The South Bend, Ind.-based Beacon hopes visible improvements will convince both staff and the community of its commitment to improving the Kalamazoo operations after acquiring the former Ascension Borgess operations in Southwest Michigan last July.
